New details have been released on the Final Fantasy TCG World Championships that will take place in Japan on November 18-19, 2017.
<Tournament Regulations>
Elimination rounds (18th Nov)
Swiss draw system consisting of 3 games per round (First player to win two games scores a round victory)
Each player plays a total of 5 rounds
Play time: 90 mins per round.
*If a victory is not achieved within the allotted time, three overtime turns will be played, with the current turn counted as turn 0. If a result is still not achieved within the overtime turns, that game is deemed to be a draw.
*A round victory earns a player 3 points, with a defeat or draw earning 0.
Once all 5 elimination rounds have ended, the 6 players with the highest points totals will go through to the finals on the next day.
Deck composition rules
・Each player will be required to prepare 3 decks each, referred to as deck A, deck B and deck C.
・Each individual card (serial number) can only be used a total of 3 times across all 3 decks combined.
・The order that decks are used in is not fixed. The player has a free choice of which deck they use in the first game of each round.
・A player will not be allowed to use the same deck that they used in the first game of a round in the second game and must instead choose from either of their two remaining decks. The third game of the round is carried out in the same way.
*The organisers will be lending out cards in order to reduce the burden on the players relating to deck composition. Players who wish to take advantage of this service should please specify the cards they wish to borrow and the language they need those cards in when submitting their deck registration form (registration scheduled for the previous day before the tournament). The deck registration form will be made available for download on the official website and other channels.
Final rounds (19th Nov)
Single elimination system consisting of 3 games per round (First player to win two games scores a round victory)
*The players who scored the highest and second highest points totals in the elimination rounds will be granted a bye for the first round of the finals.
Total of 3 rounds
Play time: 40mins per game for a total of 120mins per round
*Play time will be counted individually for each game. The time limit for each game will be 40 mins.
*If a victory is not achieved within the allotted time, three overtime turns will be played, with the current turn counted as turn 0. If a result is still not achieved within the overtime turns then the player that dealt the highest damage is deemed the winner.
Deck composition rules
・Players will use the same decks they did in the elimination rounds. No changes are permitted.
・Selecting which deck is used for each game in a round is carried out in the same way as for the elimination rounds.
