FFTCG creator Tarou Kageyama just put up a blog post about his recent trip to London, which included some interesting hints about what to expect in future of the game, particularly in relation to National and World Championships & a Judging program.
The full blog post can be found here but the indication is that the first World Championships will be held towards the end of 2017, with National qualifiers happening ahead of this.
As for the Judging program, it looks like they aim to get a large number of people who have good knowledge of the rules to pass some kind of test.
Whilst there are clearly still issue with stock and getting product to people, particularly in America, I think its a positive sign that they are looking to sort out these big picture things and get a good infrastructure in place for the game. It will definitely need this if it is to survive in the long-run.
What are your thoughts on this? Excited at the prospect of a World Championship? Would you like to become a judge?

This is good news for the game. At least we can expect the comprehensive rules before the end of the year, right? Aww, I want to change my stream question for Kageyama now. Someone else ask him if the World Championships will include the U.S. I have a feeling that we're gonna be left out again or brought into it very late. I'm interested to see how the Judging program will work. It'd be nice if people from the FFTCG communities could apply. There are a few people that are pretty solid when it comes to the rules and knowledge of gameplay.

I am really curious on how the World Championships would work out. I wouldn't mind going to be a spectator. Would be a good excuse for me to travel and not to mention all the cool exclusive merch that may be there.
I wonder if they plan on using some sort of official point system for judging. Choosing those who have judges a certain amount of events or something along those lines as they go through the selection process.

Yes, the merch! I'm particularly excited to attend just for that, whether I'm participating or just spectating.
I'm sure judging experience would help one's resume in applying.

I'd certainly be interested in being a judge if it was possible. It's something i've thought about for MTG before but there's already so many local judges where I am that it didn't seem worth going for (too many judges, not enough events at the moment).

You should do it zafri when they open up applications! Actually, you're one of people that I was talking about that knows the rules and gameplay well.

from the very little experience I have with the game, if you fully understand the rules then I say go for it. Reading the sheet of paper the decks come with got me really confused a bit. Wasn't until I was able to play with a group locally when I got a better idea of the rules haha

Would love to see the FFTCG get as big as M:tg, this is a great (and necessary) step forward to make the game more popular. Once the organised play gets rolling and distribution catches up, I'm looking forward to really pushing this game in my local area

I can definitely see this getting popular as we get a decent supply and more local and official tournaments. If Square Enix doesn't, I'll most likely be advertising the game at the big local conventions like Anime Expo and San Diego Comic Con in California.

a few of the locals in my area have described this as a refreshing and a little easier version of MTG. I haven't played MTG since i was around 15 or so, but the very little I remember, i can see the similarities.

This is only a positive for the community, especially in the U.S
