I know, it's almost the end of January. This is a late post, but better late than never. Happy New Year everyone!
A Look Back at FFTCG 2018
I believe FFTCG had a great year with many highlights and lots of growth.
For its competitive season, NA saw improvement with the introduction of qualifiers this time for our Nationals instead of just an open Nationals tournament. This came in the form of Crystal Cups Local Qualifiers.
The Worlds spots were increased from 2017 Worlds and was held in London, UK.
The game was released in Chinese early last year. They're still catching up to the current Opus sets. They're currently on Opus V.
A new type of promo card, Full Art promos, as well as Opus box promos were introduced in Opus VII.
A new template for Monsters was introduced in Opus VII.
The Prerelease kits were more innovative in 2018 with freeze tokens and deck boxes.
First dual Starter Deck was released and included the first reprint release of valuable Legendaries throughout some of the Opus sets.
The first banned cards for the Constructed format was announced and implemented after Worlds 2018.
Leaderboards were introduced for locals in Australia and Europe.
Successful SE promoting has continued to increase awareness for the game. The addition of FFTCG to the FF Brave Exvius Fan Fair was an overwhelming success. Here's to hoping there'll eventually be an addition to the FFXIV Fan Festival in the future.
Stock has been steadily great for most stores this year. Square Enix expanded to include two more distributors, allowing even more stores to carry FFTCG. Big companies like Target and GameStop started to carry the game.
Many things have happened over the past year and it's been a great ride to be alongside the start of many FFTCG highlights. Here's to hoping for another great year of FFTCG!
