You may have done this on the previous forum, but thought we should start this again in case we get all new people. So here's a thread to introduce yourself and give any background you might want to share.
To kick off, i'm Gary from the UK. I've been a Final Fantasy fan since I was first introduced to the series when VII came as a pack-in game with my PS1 and have loved it ever since (although VII is still my favourite). I started playing TGC's in 2013 when friends taught me Magic the Gathering and have grown more competitive ever since. When I heard about the FFTCG, it was a no-brainer that I would love it as it combines my two favourite things and I've been enjoying playing it as much as I can so far.

Ah, you beat me to it on starting this thread! Hello everyone! I'm Reena from California, US. I like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Halo. It's a bit ridiculous how much time I play Halo, almost everyday. I used to be a hardcore collector of the first two franchises, but finally tamed myself into a more casual buyer. My first love was Final Fantasy Tactics, followed by FFVII. I got into the FFTCG when it first came out in Japan and am still looking to complete my collection, which I should've done sooner. It's quite a bit harder now that they're long out of print. I'm still learning to play the game as I just recently got a hold of some cards. The only background I have is a few Magic games I've played with my brother. I hope to become a better player and make some friends along the way.

Hello everyone ^^. I'm Mario from Spain. First of all, sorry for my english, it can be very bad sometimes ^^u.
I love the Final Fantasy franchise since I discovered Final Fantasy VII almost 20 years ago. I've played some TCGs and LCGs as Yugioh, Pokémon or Game of Thrones and I was waiting the western release of FF TCG with a lot of expectations. I have played some local tournaments the last months, with average results. Moreover, I analyze the game on a spanish blog and ask questions for the spanish community of the game. I loved the other forum and I hope to feel the same with this ^^.

I'm a FF Tactics nut, so collecting the FFT cards is the main draw of the TCG for me. I started on the Japanese TCG, and I have most of the FFT cards in standard and premium (the biggest holes come in the later sets). Obviously I also have most of the English Opus 1 FFT cards already, although most of my missing foils are actually on order at the moment.
Definitely not surprised to see Conkwe here. That was about the only name I ever noticed popping up when I was searching for Japanese singles...no one else was making any noise about the game at all (that I ever noticed), which really sucked. So it was definitely a surprise when they finally announced that we'd be getting an English version.

I made a lot of posts during the older FFTCG days looking for trades. It was really hard to find people to trade with. At least it's a lot easier now that we have it in English. And yes, another FFT fan! Love that game.

Hey all!
I'm a hardcore gamer and lover of all things Final Fantasy. I currently live in CA with the closest FFTCG players seeming to be Henry's Collectible Card Games in OC.
I'm really excited for Opus 2 because my main Final Fantasy game right now is FF14 and it features characters from that game!
Other than that my favorite FF games in order would be
FF7 - The First FF game I ever played and secured my love for the franchise.
FF12 - I actually loved the MMO like feel but with a good story. I think the party AI If -> then framework was amazing and never replicated as well since.
FF14 - I hated MMOs until I played this game. Yes part of it is having a good guild but the the other part is this is such a smart use of the FF franchise to enhance gameplay. They just take great things from all the past games and add on layers to the game. Easy example is fully importing Triple Triad with new FF14 cards into the game including tournaments. It would be amazing eventually if they made an FFTCG version in the game with FF14 cards only or something.
FFT - Played this game after 7 and it was sooooooooooooo hard for me to play but the fun of the game was learning the ropes and getting better and eventually falling in love with it because it was an FF game with mastery.
FF8 - Triple Triad and a cool evolution of what 7 was.
FFXIII - I love lighting and playing 15 made me realize just how amazingly strong the XIII soundtrack was. I know a lot of people didn't like the 20hr hallway to Gran Pulse but for me it was worth it and I felt like FFXIII was a good next gen FF. Now XIII-2 was an ok tweak but XIII-3 was awful. Who puts a doom clock on an entire RPG playthrough?
FFI - I don't have any nostalgia attached to it so it was cool to see the roots but not much else.
FFXV - A next Gen Final Fantasy with a unique and fun combat system. Voice over work, overhype and characters I didn't like spoiled it in the end. I will say this games possible crowning achievement was how well it executed scale with its gameplay.
FFX - Fun game enjoyed blitzball nothing really stuck with me. If anything probably Lulu and Yuna.
FF9 - My friends loved it and I didn't. Characters just didn't really compel me.
ALL OTHER FF games I haven't played.
FF 2 - Man this game was just so average to bad. I think this game is the only FF game besides XIII-3 that I wouldn't ever want to play again.

Hi paddo! Yay fellow Californian! We'll probably see each other soon at Henry's shop. I haven't visited yet. I'm likely going to start going when OP starts and promo cards come in.
Nice to see all the FF games you've played. I think I've played most FF games, but only finished a few of them. Lol. I have a bad habit of dropping games.

Hey guys, player here in the US. Love the game and have a playset of all Opus 1, the starter decks, and Sephiroth promo. Just need the lightning promo lol. I did pretty well for the US distribution. Already have 2 boxes of Opus 2 and 2 boxes of Opus 3 preordered. For the Deck posting do we just drop the link from the FF TCG DB site? Ill post an example in the deck builds

Welcome ginsu117, glad you could join us. Sounds like you've done pretty well with collecting, and pre-ordered not only Opus 2 but Opus 3 as well. Didn't even think that had been announced yet! Posting with a link to the DB site is fine, got to be easier than writing it out twice

Hi I'm Jayne and I'm from the UK. Been a fan of the FF series since I was like 14/15 (currently 26 lol). My forst FF game was FFX and really enjoyed it and despite unpopular opinion I do like the FFXIII trilogy and despite the many flaws of FFXV I still really like the game and have been enjoying playing it. Aside from the FF series I also love the Kingdom Hearts Series, Pokemon, Digimon. Aside from Video gaming I do love anime and manga, one of my favourite manga series would be Fairy Tail and one of my favourite manga authors is Clamp. I attend Cons (mainly London ones) and love to Cosplay . I get easily addicted to collecting cards in TCGS like pokemon, yugioh, magic, cardfight vanguard, etc. When I found out that FF was bring a TCG over here I knew I would want to collect them and love the artwork on the cards. Hoping to be able to understand how to play the game better and get possible ideas for a deck that I want to use as I mainly use the trial decks at the moment.

Welcome Jayne, nice to see more people for the UK Glad to hear you're getting into the game. I've really enjoyed brewing with the cards since I got my hands on the starter decks and some boosters. There really is a lot of customisation you can make to suit your play style. If you have any particular deck building questions, please feel free to post them up

Welcome ginsu117 and Michura4 ! Posting links to your decks is fine. I know that there are several deck building websites out there. It would be easier to read though if your deck was copied and pasted, but it's not required. Yes, another con-goer! What cons do you go to? I go to San Diego Comic Con and Anime Expo every year. I hope Square Enix shows the U.S. a little bit more love and sells Opus III at SDCC this year.

I mainly go to the London based cons like London MCM Comic Con and London Anime and Gaming Con, but hoping to also be going to ALCON up in Leicester. If I could afford it would so love to go to American Cons one day and also Japan lol.

Michura4 ah, I'd love to go to Japan! So many places I want to visit. I've always wanted to go to Tokyo Game Show. Looks like a lot of fun. It's cool that you go to London MCM. Maybe you could do hookups if Square Enix sells or does promos again over there.

Silly question what do you mean by hook ups lol haha It means to provide goods and/or services, usually through exclusive connections. I guess that's just a U.S. term then?

Oh, well you can do that too! I actually want to do a gathering at Anime Expo this year. The Tabletop Gaming area is usually empty. It'll be perfect for a mini tournament.

Hello, everyone! I love the idea of a forum about FFTCG. My name is Michael and I live in Chicago, Illinois, United States. I am more of a collector, but after I get many duplicates I will start to play (also to get the promos).

Hey all! Arizona USA desert dweller here looking more into the FF TCG, pretty cool to come across this site. Like most I've met, FFVII was my very first Final Fantasy experience. It wasn't the best of experiences for me as it was mostly watching my cousin play it, but luckily at that time my birthday was around the corner and my sister ended up buying me the game (Fun fact, to this day I still haven't beat the game lol). From there my next game was FFX (which I did beat, and the only FF I've beaten to date lol) which is one of my favorites of the franchise. When I discovered the TCG Game I decided I wanted to at least collect the cards for the artwork but it sold out everywhere near me on release. I was finally able to get all the starter decks of Opus I but the booster packs/boxes seem to be non existent at this point. I was able to preorder an Opus II box and can't wait. As for my TCG experience, I've played Doomtowns/Badlands (2003), MTG (2003), and most recently Pokemon (2011), which was the last TCG I played competitively. After getting in a few games with my nephew and a group of people at my local shop, I find the game really fun and can hopefully semi compete. Can't wait to see what the FF TCG has in store in the future as well as this website. Nice meeting you all
