Welcome Sarah (valkyrie) and soccerwing. Glad you have joined us Oddly enough, despite FFVII being my favourite FF game, I also have never finished it myself! I have seen the ending as I was round a friend's when he finished it but never done it on one of my own playthroughs. My number of actually completed FF games is a lowly 3, being IX, XIII & XV. I keep telling myself I will get them all done at some point (I own them all!) but it hasn't happened yet. Perhaps i'll find time when I retire!

Hi soccerwing! I'm the same with a lot of the FF games, at least the early ones like I-VI. I've played them, but never finished them. It took me several tries before I finished VII and IX. I have a bad habit of stopping in the middle of the game. By the time I want to get back to it, I forget where I left off and start over again. And then it's just a cycle. Lol.
They're going to release a third wave for Opus I so there's still hope in getting boxes for it. Other than that, singles are getting cheaper.

lol glad to know i'm not the only one who hasn't finished every FF they have played. I'm the exact same way with stopping mid game and never finishing. I've honestly never seen the ending of FF7, but from what I have been told on my last play through I was on the second to last boss before fighting sephiroth so I have experienced about 85-90% of the story I suppose.
Hopefully I'm able to snag a box on that third wave. Something more enjoyable about opening packs over a package of cards you know you are receiving.

It's always RPGs too where I stop mid game. They're just so much longer than other games, it's easy to stop playing if I get stuck or bored.
And yeah, opening packs is a great feeling. That and I'm a collector in need of mint condition cards, so I very much prefer opening packs.

Hiya everyone!
So I am brand new to the Final Fantasy TCG (I've just started with the Pokemon TCG) and I'm really excited to start collecting and playing. I know I'm a little behind with the first series already past (though I have seen some boxes available) but I'm happy to catch up and start collecting.
My experience with the Final Fantasy series started with FFIX and I have really enjoyed it ever since. Right now I am playing through FFVI for the first time and also enjoying FFXIV the online game. I am hoping to learn a lot as far as adding more FF stuff to my collection and maybe enjoying a new game to play!
Bah! I'm so bad at these intros!

welcome, welcome! The TCG is really fun. There is a lot more thinking to it than I thought there ever would be when I first started, but it's the enjoyable kind of thinking IMO lol
is probably one of the only FFs that I haven't touched or seen more than 5 mins of gameplay, but everyone I meet who has played it said it is really good. At some point in my life I eventually would like to play all the FFs.

Welcome dewdlepies I wouldn't worry too much about starting a little late with this, the difficulty in acquiring product has meant you wouldn't necessarily have been much better off being in at the start! The game is really fun though so i'm sure you'll have a good time with it. I do keep wanting to go back and play FFXIV again but I just know that I don't have sufficient time to put into it and would probably just bounce off again. It is a lovely world to be in though.

dewdlepies Hi! Glad you can join us! I suppose that you're lucky in starting the FFTCG late. You skipped a lot of the community's frustrations with shortage and the lack of Square Enix support. It was a shaky start, but the game is picking up quickly now that we're seeing improvement for the game. zafri That's what I'm worried about if I start playing FFXIV. I don't need another game to take up so much of my time. But I at least want to try it out and see what the hype is about, especially since the new expansion is releasing soon.

Hi, all! Tim from Northern CA here. I'm a huge FF fan, with 8 being my first and favorite. I collect a lot of things related to the series (I'll post my collection one day) and love playing the games I have yet to complete.
I was never a fan of TCG before OPUS I, and still have a hard time since it's nowhere near my home. But I'm trying and recently ordered two lots of commons. My main focus is collecting over playing.
I also collect Triple Triad cards and am about 40 short from a complete collection, so if anyone has ones they'd like to trade please contact me and I'll let you know what extras I have.

welcome tim81de! It's funny that you mention your first and favorite FF is VIII, almost everyone I talk to who mentions which of the FFs are their favorite, it's usually the one they played first.
If I ever come across cards I don't need or can offer up to trade I'll let you know to help out with the collection. As for Triple Triad, I don't own any to help out.

Hey Tim! I'd love to see your collection. I used to be a hardcore FF collector so I have a lot of rare items myself. Thankfully, I tamed that hobby. That was a budget drainer.

Heyo everyone! My name's Merrik and I'm from the Pacific Northwest (Olympia-Lacey Area). I'm a pretty big fan of the FF series and have played at least some of all the main games in the series, but have only finished I, VII, IX, and XII, with IX being my favorite.
I'm pretty excited to get into the community, although as dewdlepies said, it kinda sucks joining late in the game and having to catch up with everyone, but I hope you guys can show me the ropes! I have experience in competitive Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh, and I'm super pumped to join the fftcg competitive scene too.
First thing on my list is to get my collection going, and the auction conkwe has going on will really help cus my local card shop's supply is non-existent. I look forward to chatting with you all!

Hey Merrik welcome! As other have said previously, don't worry so much about being too far behind. Supply has been much lower than demand, even myself am missing all of Opus I (except for the starter decks) and really am anticipating the next wave to pick up a couple of boxes. If you are able to shop online keep an eye on this thread fftcg.boards.net/thread/48/places-buy-sealed-product where you will find shops that will sell sealed product. The game overall IMO is really really fun. Much more fun than I was anticipating. The rules are a little weird at times and right now it will take a while to get used to, so don't hesitate to ask any questions to clarify a rule or situation that may not make sense when played out.

Hello, I'm David aka Ninja from Canada! My background in TCG is mostly Yugioh, Pokemon (expanded format) and a little bit of Vanguard. I discovered the game from the article that announced FFTCG was going to be available in North America.
At the locals I currently go to for Pokemon, we've only had FFTCG nights for 3 weeks now so I thought to myself "why not give this a try, branch out and make myself an established player here."
My goal is to play this competitively, and I definitely want this to be my primary focus to get really good at. It's crazy how hard Opus 1 is hard to get but hopefully there will be a restock cause I'm really digging the "Golbez" decks.
My very first FF game was 7 when I was a kid, then 8, 9, 10. IMO, the best FF game has to be between 9 or 10 right? Haha. Other than that, I'm stoked for what the future holds in this fun addicting game!

Hi David/Ninja, welcome to our community.
Glad to hear your looking to get competitive as that has been my aim with this too. I love the pursuit of improvement in my play and strategy and always want to find something to work on.
The Opus 1 stock problem is still really hurting the game but I have faith that SQEX are addressing this and we are moving in the right direction.
Well, as you're a fan of 9 I bet you will be happy with Opus 3 as we are getting lots of 9 characters in that one.

Welcome David! Oh no, not another "best Final Fantasy" argument. Those things can go on forever. I still like reading everyone's responses though. I guess I'm in the majority that considers FFVII to be one of the top FF games. Restock of Opus I in the USA is coming soon in the next couple of weeks so check your LGSs if they'll have them or order online. Merrik and davidnguyeninja, it's good that you're getting into this now since you want to be competitive. The USA Nationals was announced to be held in Los Angeles during September. It's the first championship tournament for the game so it's a big deal and would be hard to pass up the experience.

I will have the assess the format near that timeline and get in those hours of play testing, but my eyes are also on that event.

I went to my local Regional qualifier last weekend and it was a blast to play in. Unfortunately missed out on top 8 on tie-breakers but still had a great time meeting people and seeing all sorts of new decks people had come up with.

Hello Folks. Just learned of this game last week and started ordering product. Just received my first 2 starters yesterday and am really excited to teach my wife. The mechanics are simple and the complexities of any given situation appears to be the most fun of this game. Anyone here live in the Seattle, WA area? Would love to get a group going or join one.

Welcome kvane! I'm glad you could join the FFTCG community. You're welcome to start up a thread under the NA tournaments board for your area. I might start one up soon for my area in SoCal. Which starters did you get btw?

Which starters did you get btw? I've ordered all of them as well as a box of Opus 1 and 2. The first starters that showed up was Opus 3, I think? The Type-0 and FFIX. Just opend my Opus 1 box and received the FFX starter today. I'm a veteran ccg, tcg player (Magic, Decipher's Star Wars, Decipher's Star Trek, Robotech), and I really dig the mechanics of the system and am looking forward to play it out.

Welcome kvane Glad you're getting into the game, i'm sure you'll enjoy it. I came from a Magic background and found the transition pretty easy as the fundamentals are very similar but there's enough difference to make it interesting and play out quite differently.

Hello everyone,
I'm a new player to FFTCG. I learned to play at a Comic Con demo less than a month ago and have been excited about the game ever since. I'm in San Diego, and there looks to be a pretty good community around here. I've already been to a couple of meetups and have found a few shops that carry FFTCG and host events. I'm glad I will have a chance to play, although collecting is fun, too.
Over the years I've played a number of card games. I started with Magic: the Gathering and Decipher's Star Trek and Star Wars CCGs. I've dabbled in others but those were the big ones. I haven't regularly played a CCG since Star Trek CCG ended almost 15 years ago, though I've dipped my toe back into the Magic pool a couple of times. I've missed it. Now I'm back to finding penny sleeves in weird places around the house.
I've been playing Final Fantasy games since the first one came out on the NES. My favorites are VI, X, and XII. Oh and XIV, but that's a bit of a separate monster!

Hi lukyn! Glad you can join the community! It's good to see that SDCC was a good place to promote the game. I've been seeing a lot of new players recently, though that could also be due to the new Opus set since that often happens too at the same time. It's also good to see you participating at your locals. You have more experience than I do. I have a good local scene too, but I never get to go to the tournaments, only the big events like SDCC and Nationals that are coming up. Have you been attending the current SoCal Circuit tournaments? They usually have Tier 1 Games as one of its tournament locations.

Yeah, I've met at least 3 others who started because of SDCC demos. It was a good event! I'm glad I got to demo the game. I hope next year there is a little more room so I'll get a chance to play in one of their events. So far, my tournament experience has been limited to drafts. I like them because we're all on the same level, more or less. I'm going to play in my first constructed tournament tomorrow. I fully expect to be beaten horribly . Luckily I had a couple of pickup games last night which helped me see what needed to change in the deck I'm going to run in it (pretty much a modified FFXIII starter). So we'll see! I haven't done the SoCal Circuit tournaments (so far), but did go to Tier 1 for one of the drafts! I like that place and got to meet some of the locals. It is a bit of a drive but I plan to go there on occasion. Nationals sold out before I got enough of a handle on the game to feel comfortable signing up. Oh well, there's always next time. Good luck!!

It sucks that Nationals was so limited in tickets. They did say that there'll be a lot more events next year though, so we can look forward to that.
You're not in San Diego? Sounded like you were. I'm in Riverside, but the closest LGS that hosts FFTCG is Card Game Coliseum, which is in Anaheim and it's quite a trip.

Hi everyone, I'm Ernest from Singapore (South East Asia).
I'm a casual player and maybe casual trader?
Been a fan of FF since young but have only played VII, VIII and X (maybe a bit of tactics).
Been playing Magic The Gathering for past 10 years and just learned FFTCG yesterday.

Welcome knightofdawn! I'm glad to see the game growing in Singapore. I'm the same with the FF game play. I've been a fan at a young age and played most of the games, but only finished a few of them. How you liking the game so far compared to Magic?

I would say its pretty much similar but the only concern I have is that there are very limited characters since the theme is on FF, so probably not going to see many new faces / characters but its still cool.
