That is definitely a valid concern. I can see the game lasting a long time and it would become a bit stale having the same characters over and over again. But I think if the game was still going 5 or 10 years from now, I would think that they'd expand the cards to include other games. Oh, even better yet, maybe create original characters for the FFTCG. Now that would be awesome. If they were to ever develop a story for the FFTCG, then the limited character problem would disappear.

Aight y'all! Dandalf from England.
Recently found out about FFTCG and bought a few starter decks and boosters, though I've yet to actually play a game! Trying to build my understanding of the game first as the rule sheets provided are kind of... vague.
FFVII was my introduction to the series, and playing it with my brothers when I was only 7 is a fond memory for me - and they hate that I'm the only one to have finished it. FFX has to be the standout game for me though, I love it!
Enough rambling, ciao for now!

Hey dandalfGlad you are getting into the game and i'm sure you'll get to grips with it. The rules can be a little confusing if you just read them without playing a game (especially if you don't already have a TCG background) but I think it comes together for most people pretty quickly once they start doing some practice games. VII seems to be the introduction for lots of people. I guess it was the game which took the series from popular to global smash. Not sure where abouts in England you're based but if you're at all close to Norwich then i'd encourage you to come along to our local store Athena Games as we have a nice scene building there and there would definitely be people keen to help you along, i'ts a nice friendly bunch

There's a small community here, and I mean tiny, but I'll definitely be checking in on it - especially as it's based around the main card shop in the city.

Welcome dandalf! Yeah, the Starter Deck rules sheet is pretty vague. You'll want to look at the full CR. There are still a lot of important details missing, but it's the best list we've got. For any other questions you have, don't hesitate to ask the community. As for your brothers not finishing VII yet, they can always wait for the remake to finish it. They must be very patient though. It looks like it's gonna be another FFXV with a long production time. 😕

I've had a browse and there's a lot of good information on here, I'm sure I'll be caught up in no time.
No, they're just awful at it. They've both tried to finish it in the past few years and they've used me as a guidebook, which is pretty annoying! Yeah, it looks that way doesn't it. I just hope the wait is worth it - or at least complete unlike FFXV.

Lol there IS the internet for guides. Hmm, not sure about it being complete since they announced it will be released in episodes. This game is like, the big game cash earner for them other than their mobile games, so it's not really unexpected that they'd want to milk out the series as much as possible. That and it really would take too long for them to finish the full game. I really don't want a FFXV production time repeat.

I saw it in Japanese a few years ago and was disappointed it wasn't english, but then maybe 3 months ago, saw that it was in English now so I waited until last month to buy my first booster and have been buying it since. Don't really have anyone to play with currently.

cody2345 Yeah I felt the same way with the old Chapter series. I really wanted it to come out in English and it finally did after 5+ years. I think the wait was worth it though. It's an improved game that will last much longer now, which is what everyone would want for this game. Aww sucks that there's no local scene for you. You should try playing online for now. There are several ways to play online. Check the Networking/LFG board.

Heisann, I'm Jacob, residing in the frozen wasteland of Norway. I've just gotten into Final Fantasy TCG, although I've been collecting Pokémon cards my entire life so I have TCG experience from there. Funnily enough, I've never played a serious match of any TCG in my entire life, I've just been about collecting them.
I first got into Final Fantasy in May 2015 when I bough Final Fantasy XIII, and in August the same year I bought the newly-released Final Fantasy Type-0, which had finally been released in English on PC. I've followed the series with XIII-2, Lightning Returns, XV and X, although Type-0 still remains my favorite Final Fantasy game and favorite game overall.
My personal goal with the Final Fantasy TCG is to collect one copy every card - not foiled of course - and I've just gotten started on Opus I. I want to get into playing the game as well, but living in a town with less than 3000 inhabitants it's not exactly easy to find an opponent, so for now I'll stick to collecting the cards.
And that was a little about myself - Hadebra

Welcome Jacobrigoberto! It's totally fine to just collect the cards. It is Final Fantasy after all and it has a good amount of collectors in the community. Naturally, there'll be a lot of collectors with the TCG. My goal is to collect at least one of every English card of everything variation, so nonfoil, foil, parallel/alternate arts, different printings, etc. It's uh, pricey, but hopefully I'll get there. 😊

My name is Justin and I'm from Montana. I started playing about 4 and a half months ago. The fftcg scene in my town is pretty slim, but I've managed to get about 4 people playing it regularly. The local shop just started doing thursday night paid play nights and the opus 5 pre-release event but that's about it. Glad to be here where I can chat with people that actually play on a regular basis.

Welcome th3revreant ! I'm glad that you've got some regulars at your locals. Persistence is key to help your locals grow. The more weekly meetups for the game, the more exposure it'll get and hopefully you'll get more numbers to join.

Hello! My name is Barby. I live in Pembroke Pines, Florida. I'm a big Finial Fantasy fan so that's how I got into the game. I bought an FF VII starter & just learned to play with that. I've only been playing for a few weeks (only on weekends). I'm on here because I would like tips on building decks & on helping me become a competitive player. I know having the right deck matters a lot but I also know that piloting the deck is just as important. I need advice!! I watch many YouTube videos on the game, use some websites, but still end up dead last & losing all my games at locals. Looking forward to meeting you guys! KUPO! Barby

Hi, my name is Sara. I live in the Coachella Valley in Southern California.
I'm new to fftcg. I actually got my first set last year at Anime Expo. I got a few friends who I play with who are hardcore Final Fantasy fans and tcg players.
I'm looking forward to meeting more like minded players to play with.
Other than fftcg, I do enjoy some good steam games, anime, and mangas.
I hope to get to play against you one day. 😁 (tehehehe I'm still a newbie but I look forward to the battles!)

Hello. I'm a new player and just have a couple of questions regarding the game. Hopefully this thread is active enough to where I'll get a response lol. I was reading the comprehensive rules from the Square site, but I didn't come across an answer (hope I didn't just overlook it).
1. If an ability on a backup requires 2 fire elements and for that backup card to be dulled, can I fulfill both the dull requirement and one fire requirement, simply by dulling that backup? Same for a forward using a special ability... by discarding the card with the same name (for the S symbol in the cost requirements), can I use that card to fulfill the S requirement AND generate 2 CP at the same time?
2. If the Ex Burst of a card is an auto-ability, and the trigger is them entering the field, how do I use that, since the card isn't entering the field (it's going to the damage zone)?
Thanks for the help!

Hi! Welcome to the forum virgman ! It's basically just me on here running a one-man show, but I still like to keep it active with updated posts as a resource to the FFTCG community. I answered your questions in the Opus IX FAQ thread where you posted. Hope you enjoy!

Hello everyone ^^. I'm Mario from Spain. First of all, sorry for my english, it can be very bad sometimes ^^u. I love the Final Fantasy franchise since I discovered Final Fantasy VII almost 20 years ago. I've played some TCGs and LCGs as Yugioh, Pokémon or Game of Thrones and I was waiting the western release of FF TCG with a lot of expectations. I have played some local tournaments the last months, with average results. Moreover, I analyze the game on a spanish blog and ask questions for the spanish community of the game. I loved the other forum and I hope to feel the same with this ^^. Glad to have you here Mario! That's great to be apart of two FFTCG language communities. You get the best of both worlds. said:Hello everyone ^^. I'm Alex from us ?. .

Hello, I'm new to FFTCG but I'm more on collecting than playing. I do have my fair share of playing experiences from Yu-gi-oh, Magic and other TCGs before. Cool website and very informative. I just hope community is still active and the game is still going strong. Some local TCGs in my area (SEA) stopped distributing the game anymore.
